Bought new in November 2016 ,love the styling and comfortable seats and roomy interior almost full size .Large trunk is great for family vacation. I have the ex model so I’m enjoying the leather heated seats in these Wisconsin winters and heated steering wheel. Only wish maybe a little more horsepower but the engine is quiet at 70 mph.Gas mileage is great mid 30 ‘s on the highway and around 28 in city. Have 64:000 miles and it has been trouble free.
    • My 2nd KIA, I want a 3rd!

Bought my first KIA; a Forte in 2013 and was hooked. Still upset I turned that one in after the lease period was up. Stepped up to my current KIA after that and have been very happy. My Grey 2016 Optima LX will never be a head turner. Although a good looking car, it is very similar to many of the rounded, low flying bodystyles of many of the medium sized sedans in its vintage. But for comfort, ride quality and value it is unbeatable! First.... and only, the con. Within a year or so of ownership I started to notice a rattling in the front suspension system. It was quite annoying and was only noticeable on rougher roads and bigger bumps. Turned out to be a loose upper strut nut had come loose. All were tightened under warranty and have had NO problems since. As to the Pros, I continue to be blown away by the quiet, solid and exceptionally smooth ride of the car. Originally from California, I drove the car to the Northern Plains over a 2 1/2 day trek thru Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and North Dakota. The cruise control holds speed well and the ride was absolutely dreamy while the cars tracking on the road has always been excellent. The transmission shifts flawlessly, both smooth and quiet. When the accelerator is smashed the engine revs appropriately and gets one into the passing lane efficiently although not sportingly. This car's cloth seating which has been surprisingly durable and easy to clean when necessary. I do wish the LX trim level included auto up/down windows throughout as only the drivers side includes auto down. Lastly, the trunk is cavernous. I can easily put 3 golf bags; 4 with a little work into the rear. It has gotten a family of four across state to many a tournament baseball game. Split folding seats come in handy when I need to get some bigger hardware home from Home Depot. Oh, one item I never quite got used to was the lack of a spare tire. Although I never needed it, the included electric air pump and tire gel always unnerved me at the thought of ever needing to use it. Don't let me forget to mention that KIA has one of (if not) the best warranties on the market. 10 year, 100,00 mile powertrain and 5 year, 60,000 mile basic warranty. In closing, I am a true KIA lover! I challenge you to match the trim level of competing automobile at the KIA price point. I have owned a Honda Civic, a Toyota Camry, a Nissan Stanza, a Ford Explorer and more recently a Chevy 1500 Silverado. My son now drives the Optima in college and upon returning home this spring a smile was once again put on my face when I got behind the wheel. I am currently shopping for another KIA for my soon to be second college student. I am really liking the new Forte, six-speed GT. Happy driving.
    • Amazing First Car

I purchased my Optima LX pre-owned with 36,000 miles on it when I was 17 years old -- my first ever car! It's a very comfortable car with generous cargo space, smooth steering, decent acceleration, impressive handling in "Sport" mode, and a great sound system. Because I only have the LX, the car lacks a lot of features that I believe were already standard in 2016 base models of other makes: no Carplay / Android Auto, blind spot sensors, proximity sensors, or crash prevention technology. If I had owned a more "modern" car prior to my Optima, this lack of features would probably have docked a point from my review, but it does just as well for my purposes. This car is surprisingly capable in all sorts of terrains, including the dreaded New England snow and sleet, mud patches, and uneven grassy turf. Snowy roads can be a bit slippery, but I suspect that has more to do with my tires of choice than the actual car; with that being said, the traction and stability control of the Optima is a force to be reckoned with and one that has yet to fail me (knock on wood). The Kia Optima has a special place in my heart and I hope to keep her around for at least five more years before upgrading to the K5. I would buy another Optima in a heartbeat if they hadn't "evolved" it into the K5! So far, I've been without any major mechanical problems (although the VCM motor failed about 10,000 miles ago, which would have been an $800 repair if not for the extended insurance package I had purchased with the car). I'd recommend the Optima to anybody looking for an affordable and reliable vehicle.
